Space Community

I have been thinking abstractly about how like-minded people in a community could band together to assist each other and to advance the cause of private space exploration. This is a concept only, and I want to hear your ideas. A religious organization seems like a very flexible structure to promote new ideas.

Here is what I personally would like in benefits from joining a church: a very short positive sermon about God, followed by a free Sunday lunch with one pint of beer or cup of wine and a folk music sing-along with dancing and socializing, and free all-week country club benefits including tennis, basketball, volleyball, and swimming. For additional individual donations the different church rooms could be rented out for members' weddings, funerals, and concerts.

You would probably have to expect a $500 donation per person per year for the church to be able to provide these benefits. Then I thought about blood donation as a fundraiser. The church could provide a blood banking service for each member for six months free in case the member gets sick and needs a transfusion of their own blood. After separating the blood into its individual components the church would have to sell off some of the components like platelets right away but the frozen red blood cells will stay viable for 10 years and the frozen blood plasma can keep for a year. So say after six months the church could sell off the remaining blood products to hospitals for more revenue.

If most members donated blood every two months this should cover their entire expected tithing donations and keep up a rotating fresh inventory of three personal units of frozen red blood cells and plasma for each of them. From the blood products sales the church would still have some money left over for funding space research and community charity. The members who didn't donate blood would be expected to donate cash tithings or work. Ha, if the church located near a ski resort, all the better. Tell me what you think.

Phobos is a Space Ship

It looks like Phobos (one of Mars' two moons) is 30% hollow and constructed with an engineered frame and covering. The penetrating radar from our satelites discovered a series of discreet internal bays, some with intact pressurized atmospheres.
